DON’T WEAR THE “LBD”

Weddings are a celebration of love, so do your best to leave your trusty LBD at home. This is not a time for dreariness, but color and joyfulness so dress accordingly. If you can’t part from your LBD then try navy. midnight blue or a deep floral pattern to take it up a notch. The cut and details of the dress are what make a statement.

DO EMBRACE A SUIT

Bianca Jagger had it right all those years ago. The trouser suit has an air of nonchalant cool that traditional wedding-guest dresses don’t. Choose one in burgundy or textured during the colder months and team with strappy heels and a camisole. In summer, pastel styles are a great option.

EXPERIMIENT WITH A DRESSY JUMPSUIT

The rise of the jumpsuit has not yet waned and they still serve as great alternative to cocktail dresses. Comfortable, chic and somehow more monochrome than a dress,  jumpsuits have an effortless appeal.

DON’T BE A BASIC BITCH WITH YOUR STYLE

How many times have we seen that “Self-Portait” dress. Step out of the box and try some show stopping numbers that oozes confidence. You’ll thank yourself for avoid any same-outfit nightmares and will have a show stopping look for life.

DON’T WEAR NEW SHOES

Don’t be that woman who spends her day hobbling around the ceremony to eventually kicking off her heels at the end of the evening. If you will be rocking new shoes for the occasion, please wear them in first. Try wearing oversized socks and walk around your home to break-in your shoes. Also, don’t forget your PREHEELS to prevent blisters!

DO ADD HAIR ACCESSORIES

The bride shouldn’t be the one with all the fun. Where else can you get away with styling a whimsical facinator (my fave Laurence Bossion) or hat? If that is too much, try a ribbon in your messy pony tail or a elegant headscarf. Conversation pieces make the outfit and will be memorable too.

DON’T FORGET YOUR COAT

Consider what you’re wearing over your dress for a complete look. Don’t ruin a great photo with “his” suit jacket. Opt for a dress coat or faux fur. In the warmer months, consider a small leather jacket or a dress robe– essentially a hybrid between a dressing gown and a kimono – that have an understated luxe appeal.

Follow these tips and enjoy being the best dressed – besides the bride!
