These ladies had no idea what they were in for! This week’s Makeover Monday was heartfelt and special featuring my dear friend and cancer survivor, Nancy and her nurse, Leana, for a life-changing cancer survivor makeover surprising their families and offered a bit of reprise from their daily life.
The story began at City of Hope as I met Nancy when I served on the board for the Transitional Care Community Coalition. We lead the group for 2 years and became fast-friends. When she was diagnosed with breast cancer it hit me hard as she was going through the same difficulties as my mother. Thankfully, she’s in remission and her nurse, Leana, has been with her every step of the way.
Thanks to Access Live and for giving these ladies the opportunity of a lifetime. They weren’t allow to peek until everything was done by the help makeup artist Trew and Ardree from Drybar to bring my vision to life! My favorite moment is when they saw themselves and their families loved their new look!
GET THE LOOK
These ladies looked phenomenal! My mission was to elevate their sexy and confidence while still dressing within their comfort zone.
For Nancy, I made her shoulders the highlight of the look with an off the shoulder gingham blouse and white linen pants (summer staple) for a look that screams summer date, brunch and more. I accented the outfit with white wedge mules and pop of red bag (details under photo).
For Leana, I wanted her to embrace her sexy and show off her curves. This teal curve hugging dress is from Betsy Moss and I paired it with a summer must-have white blazer from Ann Taylor. A white blazer is the perfect layering piece for all summer. I stayed neutral with the shoes and added a pop of color with the pink clutch (details below). What made the look were the beach wave sexy hair from Drybar.
